Vue Entertainment formed in May 2003 after SBC International Cinemas acquired 36 cinemas from Warner Village. Since May 2003, Vue's circuit has expanded to encompass 641 screens over 66 cinemas and 140,520 seats. Vue now attracts over 32 million customers every year.

As a new UK operator, Empire Cinemas has acquired both groups of cinemas. The flagship site within the new group is The Empire, Leicester Square from which we have taken our name.
Empire Cinemas operate 144 screens across 17 cinemas in the United Kingdom.

Cineworld was founded in 1995 and all but three of its cinemas are "multiplex" with five or more screens per site. In the past year Cineworld has delivered five out of the top eight highest grossing cinemas across the UK and Ireland. Apollo Cinemas Ltd is the UK's largest independent chain and accounts for around 1.25% of total UK box office admissions.  It is the UK's 6th largest cinema operator in terms of number of screens, having 77 of them spread across 13 cinemas.
